Gunfire rang out at a Fordyce, AR grocery store late Friday morning, June 21, 2024, leaving four people dead and multiple others injured.

As reported by KARK.com, “[s]everal agencies including the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police Department responded to the scene near the [grocery store] located on West 4th Street in Dallas County shortly after 11:30 a.m.”

KATV.com is reporting, “[p]olice confirmed that the shooter arrived in the Mad Butcher parking lot in his truck and emerged armed with a pistol and 12 gauge shotgun. He also wore a bandolier with dozens of extra shotgun rounds. He began shooting in the parking lot then moved inside the store, firing indiscriminately at customers and employees alike.”

According to the report, “15 people were injured during the shooting, including 12 civilians, 2 police officers, and the shooter. As of now, 4 people, all civilians, have died as a result of their injuries.”

People.com is reporting, “Callie Weems, 23, Roy Sturgis, 50, Shirley Taylor, 62, and Ellen Shrum, 81, died from their gunshot wounds.”
