Santa Fe, NM – A motor vehicle/pedestrian accident Monday afternoon, March 24, 2025, tragically claimed the life of a Santa Fe man.

As reported by KOAT.com, “[a] fatal crash investigation is underway after police said a pedestrian was hit and killed by a city driver at the Santa Fe Place Mall. Police officers responded and found a person who was hit and killed, along with the involved city of Santa Fe vehicle and driver.”

SantaFeNewMexican.com reports that “Harley Smith, 75, of Santa Fe, was sitting on a bench outside the mall, near a bus stop, when the driver — driving a car — struck the bench and killed the man.”

According to the report, “Smith [was unable to survive his injuries].”

The investigation is ongoing.
