Gunfire erupted early Sunday morning, July 29, 2024 at a Champaign, IL apartment complex leaving two people fatally injured and two others wounded.

As reported by WCIA.com, “[o]fficers arrived in the area of Cynthia and Anita Drives at 12:34 a.m. Several people were found with gunshot wounds. The victims were treated by police and Champaign Fire Department personnel until they could be taken to a nearby hospital. One victim went to the hospital through personal transport.”

According to the report, “[a]fter an interview, police learned that there was a gathering in the parking lot of an apartment complex when a person or persons started opening fire. Four victims and one car were hit.”

News-Gazette.com is reporting, “[t]he victims were identified by the Champaign County coroner’s office as George Dorris-Rodgers, who was shot in the chest, and Daniyjah Staple, who was struck in the leg and torso.”

According to WandTV.com, “[t]wo others were injured, a 25-year-old woman (non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her arm) and a 15-year-old boy (non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg). They remain hospitalized in stable condition.”

A man was shot at a Phoenix, AZ hotel Sunday morning, July 14, 2024.

As reported by AZCentral.com, “[o]fficials said that just after 5 a.m., officers were called to a hotel near North Black Canyon Access Road and McDowell Road for a shooting incident.”

AZFamily.com is reporting, “[w]hen [officers] arrived at the scene, they found a man, later identified as 47-year-old Moses Ayala, who had been shot multiple times. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries.”

The investigation is ongoing.

Gunfire rang out at an Orrville, AL nightclub early Sunday morning, July 7, 2024, leaving one man dead.

As reported by WSFA.com, “the shooting happened around 2:40 a.m. at [the lounge] located on County Road 33 in Orrville.”

According to the report, “[d]eputies responded to Vaughn Regional Medical Center in Selma around 3 a.m. Sunday where they found two victims being treated for gunshot wounds.”

AL.com is reporting, “Jeremy “Chop” Deuntae Bryant, 19, was shot around 2:40 a.m. Sunday…Bryant was taken to Vaughn Regional Medical Center in Selma, where he died of his injuries.”
